Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage prescription processing workflow including data entry, inventory control, and order fulfillment
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and health maintenance
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, pharmacy laws, and safety protocols
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance carriers for prior authorizations and claims
- Operate pharmacy technology systems including dispensing software and automated equipment
- Assist in training new staff and maintaining departmental quality standards
Qualifications
- Current California Pharmacy Technician license required
- 1+ years of retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Certification through PTCB or ExCPT strongly preferred
- Proficient in pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) and automated dispensing
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling
- Strong communication skills with ability to counsel diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments while maintaining compliance
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and prescription processing protocols
