Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following strict aseptic protocols
- Label, process, and transport specimens to laboratory departments accurately
- Maintain patient records and electronic documentation systems with HIPAA compliance
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for testing using proper techniques
- Ensure all equipment is sterilized and calibrated according to safety standards
- Provide patient education during blood draw procedures to reduce anxiety
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow and timely specimen processing
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year recent clinical experience in blood collection
- Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling protocols
- Excellent communication skills for patient interactions and documentation
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced medical environments
- Valid Washington State phlebotomy license
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems
- Background check and drug screening required
