Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections following OSHA and CLIA standards
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratories with proper chain-of-custody documentation
- Maintain sterile work environments and calibrated equipment per facility protocols
- Provide patient education and emotional support during blood draw procedures
- Electronic health record (EHR) documentation and specimen tracking
- Collaborate with nurses and lab staff to ensure timely specimen processing
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality regulations
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) certification required
- Minimum 1 year recent phlebotomy experience in clinical setting
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy
- Pass background check and drug screening
- Flexible availability including weekends and evenings if needed
