Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive telephone and in-person patient assessments to determine urgency of care needs
- Accurately triage patients using ESI (Emergency Severity Index) protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to coordinate patient care plans
- Maintain detailed electronic health records with precise documentation
- Provide clear, empathetic communication to patients and families during stressful situations
- Monitor bed availability and manage patient flow throughout the facility
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Indiana
- Minimum 2 years emergency department or urgent care experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proficiency in ESI triage protocols and electronic medical records
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights and weekends
