Responsibilities
- Assess patient symptoms via phone/video consultations to determine urgency and appropriate care level
- Collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans and coordinate patient transfers
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) documentation in compliance with HIPAA
- Provide clear medical instructions to patients while maintaining empathetic communication
- Monitor patient progress and adjust care protocols as needed
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Train new staff on triage protocols and emergency procedures
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Virginia (or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years triage or emergency nursing experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Exceptional critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments
- Experience with telehealth platforms preferred
