Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and document medical histories accurately
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures including injections, wound care, and EKGs
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems with precision and HIPAA compliance
- Coordinate patient flow, schedule appointments, and handle insurance verifications
- Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Administer medications under provider supervision and maintain inventory control
- Provide patient education on treatment plans and preventive care measures
Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in outpatient or urgent care setting
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic or NextGen preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
- New York State CPR/BLS certification (must maintain current)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- Associates degree in Medical Assisting or related field preferred
