Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Monitor vital signs: Accurately measure and record patient blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
  • Assist with mobility: Support patients with transfers, walking, and range-of-motion exercises to ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Document patient information: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and care plans in accordance with facility policies.
  • Communicate with healthcare team: Report changes in patient conditions and collaborate with nurses and therapists to adjust care plans as needed.
  • Maintain a clean environment: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Administer medications: Assist with medication reminders and documentation under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Qualifications

  • Valid CNA Certification: Must hold a current and active Certified Nursing Assistant license in the state of Indiana.
  • BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift patients up to 250 lbs with assistance.
  • Compassion: Genuine empathy and a passion for helping others in a healthcare setting.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
