Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Monitor vital signs: Accurately measure and record patient blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Assist with mobility: Support patients with transfers, walking, and range-of-motion exercises to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Document patient information: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and care plans in accordance with facility policies.
- Communicate with healthcare team: Report changes in patient conditions and collaborate with nurses and therapists to adjust care plans as needed.
- Maintain a clean environment: Ensure patient rooms and common areas are clean, safe, and organized.
- Administer medications: Assist with medication reminders and documentation under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA Certification: Must hold a current and active Certified Nursing Assistant license in the state of Indiana.
- BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift patients up to 250 lbs with assistance.
- Compassion: Genuine empathy and a passion for helping others in a healthcare setting.
- Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
