Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assistance with Mobility: Help patients move safely from beds to wheelchairs or assist with walking using proper techniques to prevent injury.
- Medication Assistance: Support patients with medication reminders and document administration according to facility protocols.
- Communication: Act as a primary communicator between patients, families, and the healthcare team, reporting changes in patient condition immediately.
- Hygiene Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment to prevent infection and ensure comfort.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in New York State.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification required (ACLS preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well under pressure; compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical assistance maneuvers.
