Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and comfort.
- Vital Signs: Accurately monitor and record patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Assistance with Mobility: Safely assist patients with moving, walking, and transferring to and from beds, wheelchairs, or walkers, utilizing proper body mechanics.
- Medication Support: Observe patients for adverse reactions to medication or treatments and report any changes in condition to the nursing staff immediately.
- Communication: Serve as a vital link between patients and the healthcare team, documenting patient needs and feedback accurately in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Meal Assistance: Aid patients with feeding as needed and ensure they remain hydrated throughout their shift.
- Environment Maintenance: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient room environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- License: Valid and current Texas State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, nursing home, or home health setting preferred but not mandatory for exceptional candidates.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
- Compassion: Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient-centered care to individuals of all ages.
- Attention to Detail: Strong observation skills to detect changes in patient condition and adherence to strict privacy policies (HIPAA).
