Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate, reporting any abnormalities to the nursing staff immediately.
- Assistance with Mobility: Safely transfer and ambulate patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury.
- Medication Support: Understand and assist with the administration of medications as directed by licensed nursing staff, ensuring proper documentation.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and hygiene standards to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including care plans and incident reports, in compliance with facility policies.
- Communication: Serve as a vital link between patients, families, and the healthcare team, communicating changes in patient condition effectively.
Qualifications
- License & Certification: Must hold a current, valid, and unencumbered Tennessee CNA license.
- BLS Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory for immediate hires with a strong work ethic.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and families.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the shift.
