Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and verify orders with pharmacists
- Manage inventory control and medication ordering systems
- Process insurance claims and patient billing efficiently
- Counsel patients on medication usage and OTC product recommendations
- Maintain compliance with DEA, HIPAA, and state pharmacy regulations
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) for record-keeping
- Train new pharmacy technicians on standard procedures
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Pharmacy Technician certification required
- Minimum 1 year retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of drug interactions and pharmaceutical calculations
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and pharmacy management systems
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
