Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently while maintaining strict compliance with state and federal regulations
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and tracking pharmaceutical products
- Process insurance claims and manage patient billing inquiries with precision
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and adherence protocols
- Maintain sterile compounding areas and prepare IV medications under pharmacist supervision
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., QS/1, Omnicell) for prescription processing and record-keeping
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve medication-related issues
Qualifications
- Current Texas Pharmacy Technician License (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 2 years retail pharmacy experience with IV compounding background
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA compliance and medication safety protocols
- High school diploma or equivalent; pharmacy technology degree preferred
