Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, review, and dispense prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage the inventory system to ensure product availability.
- Patient Interaction: Assist patients with medication inquiries, provide over-the-counter recommendations, and ensure a positive customer service experience.
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims efficiently to minimize billing errors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards and DEA guidelines.
- Compounding: Prepare specialized compounded medications as directed by the pharmacist when applicable.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Licensure: Valid California Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, dosage forms, and medication interactions.
- Computer Proficiency: Must be proficient with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, Cerner) and basic computer skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
