Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile fields and enforce aseptic techniques
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery
- Transport patients and specimens safely between departments
- Document procedural activities accurately in electronic health records
- Collaborate with nurses and anesthesia teams for seamless care delivery
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Graduate from accredited surgical technology program
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience preferred
- Current BLS certification from AHA
- Knowledge of sterile processing protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ lbs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- NY State Surgical Tech license
