Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative procedures by anticipating their needs and passing instruments and sterile supplies with precision.
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile field protocols and hospital safety regulations at all times.
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging sterile supplies and equipment before surgery.
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts to ensure zero discrepancies for patient safety.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring comfort and safety during transport.
- Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment using autoclaves and other sterilization methods.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately within the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
- Current **Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)** certification required.
- CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association) valid and ready for hire.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often exceeding 8 hours.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
