Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile fields and surgical instruments for all specialties including orthopedic, neuro, and cardiac procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, retracting tissue, and maintaining sterile technique
- Manage inventory and sterilization processes in accordance with AORN standards
- Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams for seamless patient care transitions
- Document all perioperative activities in Epic EMR with 100% accuracy
- Maintain equipment functionality and troubleshoot basic OR technology
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for surgical safety protocols
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTA or NCCT
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Level 1 trauma center OR
- BLS/CPR certification with current AHA provider status
- Familiarity with robotic surgery systems (da Vinci preferred)
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards (AAMI/ANSI)
- Ability to stand 8+ hours with frequent heavy lifting (50 lbs max)
- Excellent communication skills in high-pressure environments
- New Jersey surgical tech license (if applicable)
