Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during clinical procedures including exams, fillings, extractions, and restorative treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain strict infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) with precision and care
- Manage patient scheduling, recall systems, and digital charting using Eaglesoft software
- Provide chairside assistance and comfort measures to anxious patients
- Inventory management and ordering of dental supplies and materials
- Train and mentor new dental assistants on office protocols and best practices
Qualifications
- Current Louisiana Dental Assistant certification or DANB certification required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a general dental practice
- Proficiency in digital radiography and infection control procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport with diverse patients
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- CPR certification and BLS training (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Experience with Eaglesoft practice management software preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; dental assisting program graduate preferred
