Responsibilities
- Assist the Dentist: Provide chair-side assistance during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and anxiety management throughout their visit.
- Diagnostics: Take and develop dental X-rays (radiographs) and intraoral photographs as directed by the dentist.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and CDC guidelines for sterilization and sanitation of instruments and treatment rooms.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records, treatment histories, and insurance information.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock dental supplies, ensuring the operatory is fully equipped for daily procedures.
- Front Office Support: Assist with scheduling appointments, handling phone inquiries, and processing payments.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or certificate.
- Certification: Current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification or state license is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a general dentistry setting is required.
- Skills: Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) and radiography equipment.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings if required.
