Responsibilities
- Execute venipunctures and capillary blood draws with a high degree of accuracy and patient comfort.
- Manage the collection, processing, and transport of laboratory specimens in strict compliance with CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Verify patient information and prepare collection tubes to ensure specimen integrity.
- Maintain a clean, sterile environment and sterilize equipment according to hospital protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and laboratory staff to resolve any collection issues.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including recording vital signs and medical history.
- Perform quality assurance checks on all collection equipment and documentation.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (CMA) with phlebotomy experience required.
- Current North Carolina state license or certification to practice phlebotomy.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a clinical or outpatient setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and specimen handling procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Valid CPR/BLS certification.
