Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor Patient Status: Observe and report any changes in a patient's physical or mental condition to the Registered Nurse (RN) or Charge Nurse immediately.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Assist with Mobility: Help patients move, transfer, or walk using wheelchairs, walkers, or Hoyer lifts as needed.
- Administer Medications: Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, assist with the distribution of medications and document administration.
- Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support to patients and their families to ensure a comfortable stay.
- Sanitation: Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients and staff at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Current State of Michigan CNA Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).
- Experience: No prior healthcare experience required; we value attitude and aptitude over experience.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks related to patient care.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills for electronic charting and documentation.
- License/Certification: Valid Michigan CNA license and current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated compassion, patience, and a strong desire to help others.
