Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients and visitors warmly, checking them in and directing them to the appropriate departments.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians and nurses with examinations, procedures, and patient exams.
- Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Record Keeping: Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR) with patient information and test results.
- Room Preparation: Prepare examination rooms for patient visits, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
- Lab Work: Collect and prepare blood samples or other specimens for laboratory testing under supervision.
- Administrative Tasks: Schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle incoming phone calls professionally.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assistant certification program is a plus but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred; willing to obtain upon hire.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and families.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs. Must have good vision and dexterity.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn hospital-specific EMR systems.
- Character: Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn in a fast-paced medical environment.
