Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages following strict safety and aseptic protocols.
- Accurately label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Greet patients, verify identity, and explain procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensure patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records and documentation.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and laboratory safety standards at all times.
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting or Nursing preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
- Willingness to obtain required certification (training provided).
