Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment for procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and sterile supplies, anticipating their needs.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accurate records and ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any significant changes to the surgical team.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room and maintain proper aseptic techniques.
- Set up and maintain sterile field, draping the patient and preparing sterile solutions.
- Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning correctly and sterilized according to hospital protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening.
- Strong ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Basic computer literacy for charting and logging data.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
- Completion of a sterile processing course or certification program is a plus but not mandatory.
