Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons and registered nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies.
- Prepare operating rooms, surgical equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments to maintain accurate counts before, during, and after surgery.
- Position patients on the operating table, adjusting them as necessary.
- Prepare and apply sterile wound dressings.
- Manage inventory levels of surgical supplies to prevent shortages.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and anatomy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
