Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and compound pharmaceutical preparations following all safety protocols
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and tracking controlled substances
- Process insurance claims and maintain accurate patient records in pharmacy management systems
- Provide exceptional customer service while counseling patients on medication usage
- Collaborate with pharmacists to ensure optimal medication therapy outcomes
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, DEA, and state pharmacy regulations
- Assist with pharmacy operations including point-of-sale transactions and cash handling
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Pharmacy Technician license required
- Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation strongly preferred
- Proficiency in pharmacy dispensing software and electronic health records
- Excellent communication skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
