Responsibilities
- Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory following strict protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and ensure a positive experience.
- Documentation: Accurately record patient information, test results, and collection details in electronic health records (EHR).
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to hygiene standards, safety procedures, and OSHA guidelines to maintain a sterile environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current and active Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, ASPT, NHA) required.
- License: Valid California Phlebotomy Technician license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- CPR: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and dexterity in handling needles and syringes.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Availability: Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, to meet patient demand.
