Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following strict protocols
- Maintain sterile techniques and ensure proper handling of biohazard materials
- Verify patient identification and document procedures in electronic health records
- Provide exceptional patient education and emotional support during procedures
- Collaborate with lab staff to resolve specimen discrepancies
- Adhere to HIPAA compliance and OSHA safety standards
- Conduct quality control checks on equipment and reagents
Qualifications
- Active Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in outpatient or hospital setting
- Valid CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Proficient in electronic medical record systems (EPIC preferred)
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including evenings/weekends
- Attention to detail with zero-tolerance for documentation errors
