Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative and surgical treatments
- Manage patient records and digital charting using Dentrix/Eaglesoft software
- Sterilize instruments and maintain OSHA-compliant operatory protocols
- Capture diagnostic radiographs (X-rays) and intraoral images
- Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene techniques
- Coordinate treatment schedules and manage inventory of dental supplies
- Support front desk operations including patient check-in and insurance verification
Qualifications
- Accredited Dental Assistant program certification (CODA or DANB preferred)
- Active CPR/BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years chairside experience in general dentistry
- Proficiency in dental imaging and radiography techniques
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality protocols
- Excellent communication skills with ability to calm anxious patients
- Valid New Mexico Dental Assistant permit
