Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during complex procedures including restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments
- Take and develop accurate dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital equipment
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain strict infection control protocols
- Manage patient flow, schedule appointments, and handle administrative tasks
- Provide chairside support including suctioning, instrument transfer, and patient education
- Monitor inventory and order dental supplies while maintaining cost-efficiency
- Assist in maintaining accurate patient records and electronic documentation
Qualifications
- Current New York State Dental Assistant certification or DANB certification
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in general dentistry
- Proficiency in digital radiography (Dexis/Sidexis) practice management software
- CPR/BLS certification (must maintain current)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to manage anxious patients
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA compliance standards
- High school diploma or equivalent; dental assisting program preferred
