Responsibilities
- Accurately code and submit medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for timely reimbursement
- Manage accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Ensure HIPAA compliance in all patient data handling and billing processes
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and coding requirements
- Generate regular reports on billing performance and denial trends
- Maintain updated knowledge of healthcare regulations and billing policies
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or related field
- 2+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or AAPC certification preferred
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, or NextGen)
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
