Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense and verify prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock rotation
- Process insurance claims and assist patients with medication counseling
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Operate pharmacy software systems for dispensing and record-keeping
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve medication inquiries
- Prepare sterile compounds and IV medications when certified
- Train new pharmacy technicians on established protocols
Qualifications
- Current California Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 1 year retail or hospital pharmacy experience
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and FDA regulations
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (e.g., Omnicell, QS/1)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Basic math skills for prescription calculations and inventory management
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
