Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with the utmost precision and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately complete all required documentation and requisitions.
- Maintain strict compliance with infection control protocols, OSHA guidelines, and laboratory safety standards.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, storage, and transportation of specimens to the laboratory.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized phlebotomy station.
- Assist with patient education regarding the blood draw process to alleviate anxiety.
- Collaborate with nurses and medical staff to ensure seamless workflow in the clinic.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Previous clinical experience in a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
