Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient assessments via phone and in-person to determine medical urgency and appropriate care level
- Provide expert clinical guidance to patients experiencing acute symptoms or health crises
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care pathways
- Document patient interactions accurately in Epic EHR system while maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Triage incoming calls and walk-in patients using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) protocols
- Manage patient flow and communicate wait times effectively to reduce anxiety
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives for triage processes
Qualifications
- Active Colorado RN license with minimum 2 years emergency/urgent care experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and TNCC certifications required
- Demonstrated expertise in rapid assessment and critical decision-making
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to de-escalate anxious patients
- Proficiency in electronic health record documentation (Epic preferred)
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations
- Strong knowledge of triage protocols and ESI guidelines
- Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN) preferred
