Responsibilities
- Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS standards
- Submit clean claims to insurance companies and government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)
- Manage accounts receivable and resolve claim denials within 30 days
- Conduct insurance verification and pre-authorizations for patient services
- Generate monthly revenue reports and aging accounts analysis
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation compliance
- Stay updated on CMS regulations and payer policy changes
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) credential
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or Athenahealth EHR systems
- Advanced knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare regulations
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to numerical accuracy
- Strong negotiation skills for complex claim resolutions
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
