Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications accurately under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Manage inventory levels, including receiving, stocking, and ordering pharmaceutical supplies to ensure minimal stockouts.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process electronic claims and reimbursement forms efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering patient questions regarding medications and offering health education.
- Assist in the compounding of medications and the preparation of sterile intravenous (IV) solutions.
- Maintain strict compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, DEA, and FDA guidelines.
- Perform routine quality control checks and data entry updates in the pharmacy management system.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Alaska Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certification required).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds when necessary.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, Cerner).
