Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws with a high degree of accuracy and patient comfort.
- Verify patient identity and confirm medical history before procedures.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory in compliance with chain-of-custody protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Manage patient queues, update electronic health records (EHR), and handle inquiries professionally.
- Assist with inventory management for phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
- Valid New Mexico State Phlebotomy License.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient laboratory setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to calm anxious patients.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency in EMR systems.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
