Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws efficiently and with minimal patient discomfort.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and laboratory documentation.
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation.
- Follow strict safety and hygiene protocols to prevent contamination and infection.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate efficient patient flow in the clinic.
- Prepare specimens for transport to the laboratory with precision.
- Assist in inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of a medical assistant or phlebotomy program preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
