Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specialized blood collection procedures with precision and patient comfort
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory while maintaining strict chain of custody protocols
- Verify patient identity and prepare samples for analysis using advanced diagnostic equipment
- Maintain immaculate documentation in HIPAA-compliant electronic health record systems
- Train junior staff on updated phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols
- Collaborate with physicians and lab technologists to optimize sample integrity
Qualifications
- Current North Carolina Phlebotomy Technician certification (required)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in high-volume clinical or hospital setting
- BLS/CPR certification with current AHA credentials
- Proven expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and difficult venipuncture access
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems and specimen tracking software
- Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings and weekends
