Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections using standardized protocols
- Process and label specimens according to laboratory requirements
- Maintain sterile techniques and infection control procedures
- Verify patient identification and prepare specimens for transport
- Document collection data in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Train junior staff on phlebotomy best practices
- Collaborate with laboratory and clinical teams
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification required
- Minimum 2 years' clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic, Cerner preferred)
- BLS/CPR certification
- Exceptional patient communication skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced hospital environment
- Strong attention to detail and specimen integrity
- Preferential experience with pediatric geriatric populations
