Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by arranging instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile field for surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and materials, and holding retractors.
- Monitor patient vital signs and maintain accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and sterilizing the surgical site.
- Properly dispose of contaminated supplies and manage waste according to safety protocols.
- Document patient information and surgical procedures accurately in medical records.
- Maintain professional knowledge of sterilization techniques and surgical procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or CMA (AAMA) credential required.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a hospital or surgery center setting preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical terminology.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
