Responsibilities
- Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist during procedures, ensuring proper sterilization of instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Patient Care: Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort throughout their visit.
- Record Keeping: Update and maintain accurate patient records, including dental histories and treatment plans.
- Radiography: Perform intraoral and extraoral X-rays accurately and efficiently.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Lab Work: Take impressions for crowns, bridges, and dentures as directed by the dentist.
- Front Desk Support: Manage scheduling, confirm appointments, and handle basic patient inquiries.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Texas Dental Assistant license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Radiography license.
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a dental setting preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in dental software (e.g., Eaglesoft, Dentrix) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a patient-first attitude.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients or equipment up to 50 lbs.
