Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Properly label, process, and prepare blood specimens for analysis according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control policies, OSHA standards, and safety regulations.
- Build rapport with patients by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring a positive experience.
- Verify patient identification and ensure accurate documentation of medical history.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to facilitate timely specimen delivery.
- Manage inventory of supplies and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or similar certification required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory for new graduates.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and blood collection techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Valid NJ Driver's License is a plus.
