Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort
- Process and transport specimens to laboratory facilities following HIPAA protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in EHR systems
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures
- Prepare patients for blood collection while explaining procedures clearly
- Operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Collaborate with nursing staff to optimize patient flow and efficiency
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NCCT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year recent clinical phlebotomy experience
- Valid CPR/BLS certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and CLIA compliance standards
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to reduce patient anxiety
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume environments
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including weekends if required
