Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately and safely
- Process and label specimens according to laboratory protocols
- Verify patient identity and maintain HIPAA compliance
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment
- Provide patient education during blood draw procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare teams for efficient workflow
- Document procedures in electronic health records (EHR)
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Texas state phlebotomy license
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols
- Excellent venipuncture skills with minimal callbacks
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
