Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process and label specimens according to strict laboratory protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA
- Operate and calibrate phlebotomy equipment including centrifuges and analyzers
- Assist in inventory management of medical supplies and phlebotomy kits
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure timely specimen processing
Qualifications
- Active California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced setting
- BLS/CPR certification from a recognized provider
- Proficiency in handling difficult draws (pediatric, geriatric, obese patients)
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) preferred
