Responsibilities
- Perform Accurate Collections: Draw blood samples (venipuncture and capillary) efficiently while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Patient Verification: Verify patient identity and medical history prior to any procedure to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory in adherence to strict quality control standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a sterile, organized, and clean phlebotomy station; ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Point-of-Care Testing: Perform basic POCT tests, such as glucose monitoring or rapid diagnostics, as required by the clinical team.
- Patient Interaction: Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and reduce anxiety during the collection process.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Phlebotomy Technologist certification required.
- Licensure: Valid Nevada State Phlebotomy license.
- BLS Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional phlebotomy experience preferred for immediate hire roles.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
