Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging sterile instruments, and ensuring all supplies are ready for procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and sterile supplies as requested
- Maintain sterile fields throughout surgical procedures and enforce strict aseptic techniques
- Account for all surgical instruments, sponges, and needles before, during, and after operations
- Transport patients to and from operating rooms while monitoring vital signs
- Operate specialized surgical equipment including endoscopic cameras and robotic systems
- Document surgical procedures accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent surgical tech experience in general surgery or specialty setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile processing standards and OSHA regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
