Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, label, and dispense prescription medications under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and tracking controlled substances
- Process insurance claims and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and adherence protocols
- Maintain compliance with DEA, FDA, and Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on best practices
- Utilize pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) for prescription processing
Qualifications
- Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 2 years of retail/hospital pharmacy experience
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
- Strong knowledge of prescription medications and pharmaceutical calculations
- Excellent communication skills with ability to educate diverse patient populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- High attention to detail with zero tolerance for medication errors
