Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense and compound medications following prescription protocols and state regulations
- Manage inventory control systems, including ordering, receiving, and tracking controlled substances
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and adherence
- Oversee technician workflow and ensure compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy standards
- Utilize advanced pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell) for dispensing and record-keeping
- Train and mentor junior pharmacy technicians on best practices
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient medication regimens
Qualifications
- Active New York State Pharmacy Technician license
- ASHP certification or equivalent experience (3+ years)
- Proven expertise in sterile compounding and IV admixture preparation
- Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical mathematics and dosage calculations
- Proficiency in pharmacy management systems and electronic health records
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills for patient and provider interactions
- Experience in high-volume hospital or specialty pharmacy setting
