Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections across all patient demographics
- Train and evaluate new phlebotomy staff on SOPs and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate specimen labeling and chain-of-custody documentation
- Operate automated analyzers and point-of-care testing equipment
- Implement quality control measures per CAP/JCAHO standards
- Collaborate with lab technologists on specimen processing priorities
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required
- Minimum 3 years clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification from American Heart Association
- Proven ability to train and mentor team members
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations
- Experience with LIS systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends
- Valid Hawaii driver's license (if required for mobile collections)
